NYWFA to announce award winners at Financial Follies

The 87th Financial Follies, an annual event from the New York Financial Writers’ Association, is just more than three months away.

The Follies will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Edison Ballroom’s main ballroom.

Financial Follies table purchases are tax-deductible, and money raised supports scholarships for the next generation of business journalists and the ongoing educational efforts of the NYFWA. The NYFWA has awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships over the past 20 years alone.

This year’s Financial Follies will honor Leonard Sloane, the only person to ever perform in 50 consecutive Financial Follies, from 1964 to 2014. Sloane, who spent the bulk of his career as a personal finance reporter and columnist at The New York Times and who continues to write about investing as a freelance writer for the The Wall Street Journal as a nonagenarian, will be recognized for his dedication to the NYFWA and his unprecedented Follies run.

At the gala this year, the NYFWA will be announcing the 2025 winner of the Elliot Bell Award (David Faber received it last year) and The Impact Award for Distinguished Financial Journalism (Emily Baker-White won it last year for her articles at Forbes and BuzzFeed News).

Table availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. More information about this year’s event can be found here.
