Police arrest man on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material – The Mercury News

SAN JOSE — Police arrested a man on suspicion of downloading and distributing images of child sexual abuse material, authorities said.

Kaiwen Du, a 19-year-old resident of San Jose who was employed as an after-school program instructor at an elementary school in Sunnyvale, was booked on suspicion of crimes related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, according to a press release from the San Jose Police Department.

Officials did not name the school where Du had been employed.

The arrest was the result of an investigation started in March 2025 by SJPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children and Child Exploitation Detail Task Force, authorities said.

Authorities said they learned that Du had been observed downloading and distributing prepubescent child sexual abuse material, and ICAC was able to track the material to his residence. They then obtained a search warrant for his residence.
